ye olde british summer

Usually i’m ideas central when it comes to birthdays, weddings and Christmas but Fathers Day is the one celebration day a year where I struggle to buy a thing. What do you buy a man who has everything? I decided to treat him to a carvery at my favourite pub, Ye Olde George in quaint little Christchurch.

{Christchurch Priory}

Lined with beautiful buildings and cute little boutiques, Christchurch is a little treasure to explore.

Bakeries, coffee houses and pubs ooze smells of fresh foods onto the high street.

Ye Olde George pub is very oldy-foldy. On the outside of the annexe (now the kitchen) there is a sign which describes how prisoners were kept at the pub before being transported to the old  port of Poole to be deported to Australia. The pub is very small and cosy but serves some of the best pub food in Dorset. Our usual choice is the fish plater which is actually on the menu as a starter, but plenty for two to share.

The carvery doesn’t disappoint and I can safely say we all got our monies worth. Always a selection of meats and vegetables, your plate comes out looking more like a mountain!

All that’s left to say is, Happy Fathers Day Dad x
