Our home this Christmas

First things first, Happy December!! My favourite month of the year is here and I can finally share it with my little baby boy! We’re beyond excited to spend Christmas with Seb and have been making the most of getting Christmassy at every opportunity we can! I know he’s going to hate me for this picture one day but I couldn’t resist…

Anyway, sorry it’s been a little quite over here. I’ve been busy getting things ready for Christmas and just making sure we make the best memories of Seb’s first Christmas. I’ve been trying to make as many things as possible, like footprint gift tags (easier said than done with a wriggly 4 month old baby!) and footprint salt dough tree decorations!

Here’s a little peek at our home this Christmas!

I picked up this stocking holder from HomeSense a few weeks ago and I love how it looks on our mantelpiece. Perfect for Seb’s new stocking…

Stocking from Curiosity in Swanage

Our Christmas Kiwi and Pukeko take pride of place on our mantelpiece too!

During the madness of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and whatever other sales were on in the last few weeks, I managed to pick up these beautiful gold wreath decorations from M&S with 50% off. We’ve put the wreath in the porch (replacing our BBQ sign!) and the other over the mantelpiece.

I’ve put a few decorations in Seb’s nursery too, including this wind up musical soldier from HomeSense. He loves that it moves and sings!

And of course his Santa suit ready for Christmas day!

We decided to splurge on a real tree this year and we absolutely love it. Seb is fascinated by the lights and would happily stare at it for hours on end!

We moved our usual artificial tree into the landing upstairs this year and love how it looks! Turtle Mat kindly sent me this awesome door mat in their Christmas Jumper design and we love it!! In fact we’re debating if it is acceptable to use it all year round in our porch! We decided to incorporate it in our decorations and it very conveniently hides the Christmas tree light wires!

So there it is, our home this Christmas! How is your Christmas decorating going?

Christmas Hampers

One of my favourite gifts to give (and receive) are hampers. I’ve been making them for years for family and friends and always love the idea that you can gift something that they wouldn’t normally treat themselves to.

This year however, things are going to be a little different with Sebastian around, so when Harvey Nichols got in contact offering me one of their luxury hampers, I was sure to see if all my hamper prayers had been answered!

What arrived through the post was this gorgeous Christmas red hamper, embossed with the signature Harvey Nichols logo. It oozes luxury. But it’s the goodies inside that really live up to it’s Rise & Shine name, the perfect ingredients for a luxurious Christmas morning treat. A bottle of prosecco, tea and coffee with two very stylish mugs and the prefect spreads for a giant pile of toast!

Harvey Nichols have some amazing Christmas hampers this year and one to suit every budget. We’re going to keep our hamper until Christmas morning and happily toast our first family Christmas with a glass of that Prosecco, a large coffee and a huge serving of toast!

Gifts for Kiwi’s with Hinton Homes

As it’s Sebastian’s first Christmas, this year is going to be a very special one for us! I’ve been planning extra early this year in preparation for the big day however one thing that always creeps up on me is the final posting date for international mail! The majority of Scott’s family live in New Zealand so early in December I need to make sure their package is in the post!

Each year I try and be more creative with the gifts we send over (considering there is a rather long restriction list too…yes one year we had a potato gun confiscated!) and I love to try and make the gifts as British themed as possible. This year I think I may have found the perfect destination for all our overseas gifts and it’s the gorgeous local gift shop and online retailers, Hinton Homes. Here’s what’s on my gift wish list!

Disney It’s A Small World Meal Set

I LOVE this clever little kids meal set. Seb has a cousin in New Zealand who has just turned 1 and this is just the perfect little gift. A tumbler, plate and bowl is stacked up to make this oh so British beefeater!

Doctor Who Tardis Mug

This Doctor Who mug is about as British as it gets! I love the colour and you could even push the boat out and buy the matching Tea Pot!

Jurassic Coast Limited Edition Print

If you’re read my Story of Your Home post, you’ll have spotted that I already have the Poole and Bournemouth beaches version of this print in our porch and I absolutely love it. It is a gorgeous print that always gets guests talking. When I spotted this special edition Jurassic Coast print on the Hinton Homes website I knew it would be a perfect gift for Scott’s parents after their little Jurassic coast tour with us in September.

Scratch Map Travel Edition

One thing with most kiwis is their love for traveling. Scott’s brother and sister-in-law have travelled around the world after a brief stint in London a few years ago and this would be the perfect gift for their newly built family home!

Ted Baker Cables and Cobler Bag

And lastly a gift from one of my favourite designers, Ted Baker. I love Ted’s quirky and patriotic style and this leather travel bag fits the bill for those hard to buy for relatives.

If you haven’t checked out Hinton Homes wonderful gift site then you can planning your Christmas gift list here! If you’re a Southerner like me, they have stores in Wimbourne and Broadstone.

Now to find some British themed wrapping paper and get this box packed up for our family on the other side of the world!
